Set up the work, not just the device
List the tasks the computer needs to handle and the equipment it must connect to. Email, printing, shared files and business applications may each have separate account owners. Include whether this is a new setup, a replacement device or help with an existing computer.
For a replacement, identify approved data sources and the applications that need to move. Confirm licenses, access arrangements and who can authorize changes. At handover, review the agreed tasks with the person who will use the computer and note any remaining setup responsibility.
